Frequently Asked Questions:

What types of sessions are most likely to be selected for West Slope Startup Week?

Attendees of WSSW are adventurous, think outside-the-lines, are working on big problems, and often have limited resources. To match the energy of our attendees, we suggest authentically engaging and educational programming taught by experienced Colorado entrepreneurs and professionals. The session programming will be a mix of active problem-solving, opportunities to connect, and sparking the exchange of ideas in ways that are unique to an in-person setting. Content should tangibly move the needle for attendees, offering teachings or resources that pertain to small businesses, entrepreneurs, funders, makers, and freelancers. Our event is inclusive of all: we hope to see sessions targeted at any-and-all, as well as some targeted to historically underserved or marginalized groups of people.

How do I choose which “Track” is best for my session idea?

The tracks are used to help organize West Slope Startup Week sessions into streamlined categories for participants. The tracks include Money, Communication, Makers, Tech, People, Toolbox, and FUN!

  • COMMUNICATIONS The who, what, why, where, and how of branding, marketing, advertising, engagement, and public relations. The verbal, written, and online connection between us.
  • MONEY The how-to’s and dos and don’ts of funding, financing, and investment. It’s all about the money…or is it?
  • TECH The programmers, coders, designers, roboticists, and product visionaries behind the computer – the builders of tech.
  • TOOLBOX Interactive workshops that tackle fundamentals, how-to’s, and skills-building.
  • PEOPLE The heart of it all – developing leaders, building teams, creating culture, fostering engagement, cultivating talent, cultivating your capacity and identity as a founder. The humanity behind the work.
  • MAKERS The creators, artists, inventors, manufacturers, builders, and scientists, of the west. From those working with their hands to those operating high-tech machinery – all making something out of nothing.
  • FUN! Pretty straightforward – this is where we come together to enjoy each other’s company and the beautiful natural world we choose to call home. Social events and opportunities to play outdoors!

Do you have to live on the West Slope to attend or present? What about if I’d like to volunteer?

All are welcome to attend WSSW! Startup Week’s aim is to enable genuine and beneficial connections and to democratize access to business education. West Slope Startup Week welcomes knowledge-seekers and network-makers from everywhere.

Presenters are welcome from far and wide! We only ask that the sessions you propose be relevant to the attendees, most of whom will be from the rural CO entrepreneurial ecosystem.
